REACH Regulations and Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) Compliance Documentation for MiTAC DSG Products

To find the available REACH SVHC Compliance documentation, use MiTAC's IEC62474 MDDS documents in conjunction with the REACH DCL. The following product families are covered: Server M50FCP, M50CYP, D50DNP, D50TNP, and Server Board S2600WFR. Any reportable SVHCs will be declared in the applicable MDDS documentation.

1. Get the MDDS document from here.
2. Within the MDDS document, scan the declarable substances section for the specific SVHC status using the name or the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) registration number.

The European Union’s REACH regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) places obligations on manufacturers, importers and downstream users of chemical substances and preparations. Article 33 of REACH requires suppliers to inform recipients if an article contains more than 0.1% (by weight per article) of any substance(s) on the candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).

Our IEC62474 Material Declaration Data Sheet (MDDS) includes the specific product SVHC status. If the SVHC is not present in the product, the False response will be applied to the Above Threshold? query.

As shown in the table below, newer IEC62474 document revisions will include the SVHC row under the Declaration table showing as False if the product does not contain any SVHC above the reportable threshold.

What is REACH?

• REACH is an acronym for Regulation No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. REACH is a regulation of the European Union, addresses the production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment. It entered into force on June 1st, 2007. The regulation also established the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), which manages the technical, scientific and administrative aspects of REACH.

What is SVHC?

• A Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) is a chemical substance (or part of a group of chemical substances) for which it has been proposed that the use within the European Union be subject to authorization under the REACH Regulation. REACH SVHC list is not a static list and it is updated frequently. The most recent list of substances restricted under REACH and the conditions for those restrictions can be found in European Chemical Agencies.

What is REACH Article 33? - Duty to communicate information on substances in articles

• Any supplier of an article containing a substance meeting the criteria in Article 57 and identified in accordance with Article 59(1) in a concentration above 0.1 % weight by weight (w/w) shall provide the recipient of the article with sufficient information, available to the supplier, to allow safe use of the article including, as a minimum, the name of that substance.
• On request by a consumer any supplier of an article containing a substance meeting the criteria in Article 57 and identified in accordance with Article 59(1) in a concentration above 0.1 % weight by weight (w/w) shall provide the consumer with sufficient information, available to the supplier, to allow safe use of the article including, as a minimum, the name of that substance. The relevant information shall be provided, free of charge, within 45 days of receipt of the request.
